A Turn For The Good

Sunday I was emotional and stressed. Ashtyn’s stability seemed to be teetering and I wasn’t sure if her health was going to take a turn for the worst or for the better. After being in the hospital for two weeks I felt enough was enough and improvement needed to happen. I asked for prayers that her kidney’s would recover and her overall health would improve. Sunday night the ICU nurse knew how concerned I was and allowed me and Ethan to sleep at her bedside. Monday her health turned a corner for good and everything improved. She went from having a high urine output to a normal amount. IV fluids were previously needed to keep hydrated but by the end of day her urine output drop to a range that she was able to stay hydrated by drinking like normal. Her blood pressures where consistently great where I stopped worrying about them all together. By Monday night I felt comfortable leaving the hospital to sleep at the Ronald McDonald House with Ethan. Before heading out I had a hunch she would be moved from the ICU to the oncology floor anytime so I made sure all of our things were gathered and packed. We then said good night to Ashtyn and left her with her awesome ICU nurse Livia.  Side note: Livia is from Boston and is a travel nurse working in Seattle until August. She doesn't know how she came across Ashtyn's Facebook page but has been following for 1 1/2 years! What are the chances we got her for our nurse?! I love meeting people who know our journey. At 12:30 a.m. right as I was getting settled in bed at the RMH, I got a phone call with the hospital number on my caller ID. Of course my heart dropped with initial worry but was quickly calmed with the information that she was being moved out of the ICU that very moment to the oncology floor. I texted her and was told she's good, liked her new room, and was going to go to bed. I’m grateful for the calm I feel as I'm going to bed now too. Please continue praying because obviously prayers are being answered. Please pray that 1. She will be cancer free by Monday.  2. Her health will continue to quickly improve allowing her to go to Salt Lake City for the weekend. I’m grateful for God’s goodness and for all of you.
