There's Always Good Around The Corner

Yesterday we found out Ashtyn and I will not be going home for Thanksgiving or her 18th birthday. Our goal has always been focused on getting home but there’s still things that need to be done. The first step is to get discharged from the hospital. There are still health issues being addressed but we are hopeful she’ll leave the hospital Thursday. Once out of the hospital, she will be seen by the BMT outpatient team at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance three times a week as her body proves it’s stable outpatient. In addition, her BMT team in Seattle will communicate with the BMT team in Salt Lake City and work on getting her home as soon as both teams feel comfortable. The news that she’s not going home this month was initially painful and disappointing to hear. To dream big and have high hopes brings the risk of getting hurt, but we will never face life differently. No matter what, there’s always positive to be found with every unanswered prayer and there’s always something else that’s wonderful and worth fighting for. I’ve never found a time where complaining was helpful and have always felt it’s worth having hope, optimism, and trust in God. When things don’t work out the way we pray them to be, what’s the next desire we can pray for and work towards? Let’s pray to get us home before December 11th so we can settled in and enjoy Christmas break as a family! In the meantime, Morgan and Ethan will come to Seattle for Thanksgiving and I’ll do everything in my power to get Ashtyn’s dog Marlie to be allowed to come stay with us until we go home.
