Today is BMT Day 100. Some may think I’m lying or just delusional but the fact is, fighting cancer along side Ashtyn has had way more happy times than sad, and more joyful moments than horrendous ones. Ashtyn feels the same. I’m confident if you were to talk to the many nurses, nurses aids, doctors, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and visitors, each would vouch for me. Throughout the years of cancer treatment, we have spent many months in the hospital. Ashtyn’s rooms have always had a fun, uplifting, happy, and peaceful vibe. We’ve met fellow patients and families who have become lifelong friends we treasure. We’ve met countless healthcare staff who have brought so much happiness with their unselfish, thoughtful, and passionate care. My kids know love, sacrifice, and gratitude and our family connection is priceless. We have absolutely experienced suffering and heartache but those moments last for a moment while goodness and awesome experiences have been abundant. We can confidently say that the good has far outweighed the bad. I feel blessed to have walked this journey with Ashtyn. It’s a trial we don’t ever want to do again but wouldn’t trade it for anything.
