In February when we found out Ashtyn's cancer was back she said, “I want to go to Jr. Prom April 14th.” Once we realized she wasn’t well enough to leave Seattle that weekend she looked forward to the next event. “I hope I’m able to go home for the April 21st yard sale for my Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) fundraiser.” While she sat in the hospital missing out on that event, she began looking forward to the following weekend. “I hope I can go home for the fundraising Gala on April 28th.” There’s no way she’ll be able to make it to that either. Every time she doesn’t get her own way Ashtyn figures out something else she wants and shoots for it. The lack of wallowing and always having hope for something else is extremely powerful and one reason why she has come as far as she has. We never know what the future holds but are never afraid to shoot for the stars even though we may have to change the star we are shooting for. This is our hope for now: Today she is getting a bone marrow aspirate that will show whether or not she is in remission. Since March 8th, she has continued taking the study drug Venetoclax every single day without missing one dose. Three chemotherapy drugs were added in April that we hope will get her cancer free results on Monday the 30th. Over the weekend we hope her body will completely recover from all the bumps in the road making it safe for her to leave the hospital and travel to Salt Lake City on May 1st. On May 7th we will need to return to Seattle to hopefully start preparations for her bone marrow transplant. She is tentatively scheduled to go back inpatient at Seattle Children's Hospital on May 23rd for chemotherapy and radiation, which conditions her bone marrow for a transplant on May 29th. Please pray 1. for cancer free results on April 30th. 2. that her body will maintain good blood pressures and good blood sugars. 3. that her kidneys will fully recover by Monday.
Today and Saturday are the last days to donate to her LLS fundraiser that goes towards cancer research. Ashtyn is about $18,000 short from meeting her goal. If all her followers would donate $10 today, she could meet her goal. Thank you to each one of you who have contributed so far.
